Gynecomastia Treatment


An enlargement of the male breast(s), gynecomastia is a condition in which the male breast(s) can protrude and appear female-like. In order to correct these imperfections, and to help the patient attain a flatter, more defined chest, Dr. Linder may suggest gynecomastia surgery. Otherwise known as “male breast reduction surgery,” gynecomastia treatment can help treat men with an enlarged breast(s) due to:

  • Excess glandular tissue
  • Steroids and/or drug use
  • Medical conditions
  • Excess fat and skin

Not intended for overweight patients or for patients who may be taking anabolic steroids, male breast reduction is best suited for men who are healthy, in their normal weight range, and have elastic, firm skin.

Depending on the amount of protrusion exhibited in the breasts, Dr. Linder will determine which method will work to reach your goals. Some of the techniques he offers to reduce the breast(s) are liposuction (“lipoplasty”), liposuction with the extraction of some glandular tissue and fat through a periareolar incision (around the areolas), and/or a full breast reduction including an anchor –shaped incision in which to compress the breast(s) size.

After the skin, fat, and glandular tissue are removed, the patient will be able to enjoy a new, slimmer contour.

As a breast reduction specialist, Dr. Linder may also assist women who possess overly large, sagging breasts. By performing breast reduction surgery (“mastopexy”) on his female patients, he may provide them with the lighter, proportionate breasts they desire.
